Egypt’s Labor Law No. 14 of 2025 entered into force on 1 September 2025. For employers, the practical priority is not only knowing that the law changed, but checking whether contracts, policies, personnel files and daily HR practices are aligned with the current requirements.
What should HR review first?
1. Employment contracts
Review the company’s contract templates and confirm that job title, workplace, compensation, working arrangements and other agreed conditions are documented clearly. Keep signed copies and make sure the personnel file matches the active contract.
2. Internal policies and employee communication
Leave, attendance, disciplinary procedures, complaints and workplace conduct should be written, communicated and applied consistently. A policy that exists only on paper does not protect the company if managers follow a different daily practice.
3. Personnel files
Check that every employee file is complete, current and easy to audit. Contracts, identification documents, hiring forms, social insurance records, leave documents, performance records and disciplinary documents should follow one controlled filing system.
4. Working time, attendance and payroll inputs
Attendance records, approved overtime, leave and deductions should flow into payroll through a clear approval process. Any difference between actual practice and the written policy creates financial and compliance risk.
5. Termination and employee clearance
Before ending employment, review the applicable procedure, supporting documents, final settlement, company asset return and social insurance actions. Each case should be assessed individually before action is taken.
A practical employer checklist
- Update employment contract templates.
- Review HR policies and forms.
- Audit a sample of employee files.
- Compare attendance records with payroll.
- Check disciplinary and grievance documentation.
- Review termination and clearance procedures.
- Assign an owner and deadline for every compliance gap.
